Asia’s world city is gearing up to play host to the Hong Kong Salsa Festival 2010 (HKSF), an exciting whole week of music and dance extravaganza that swings into action from February 1 to 7. Presented by Quick Step Productions and supported by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, this annual global gathering celebrates “the fastest growing dance form on earth, salsa” and caters to everyone who loves dancing and spectacular performances.
With more than 40 teams of performers from all over Asia, Europe, North America and elsewhere flocking to participate, Hong Kong Salsa Festival is the most international salsa festival event of Asia-Pacific and continues to appeal to a wider local and worldwide circle.
On the agenda is a jam-packed week comprising street parties, club nights, live music, international DJ’s, performances featuring multiple champions from around the world, dance workshops and Asia’s most prestigious salsa competition, the Asia-Pacific Salsa Open Championships.
Hong Kong Salsa Festival has been made possible thanks to the outstanding support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board and various other esteemed establishments such as Hong Kong Government, Avenue of Stars, Festival’s official hotels – The Charterhouse, Cosmo & Cosmopolitan Hotels and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC)
Events will take place at some of Hong Kong’s most famous areas including but not limited to Lan Kwai Fong, the Avenue of Stars, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Monday 1st Thursday 4th February (8pm – late)
Salsa Festival Fever breaks out in full force as local and overseas salsa enthusiasts begin gathering in Hong Kong to celebrate this infectious music and dance. and to teach non dancers how to move and groove to this most famous of world dances. What’s more, some of the world’s top salsa teachers will be at hand to coach both novices and experienced dancers. Added to all this will be inspiring demonstrations from some of the world’s greatest salsa dancers. On these club nights, the beautiful singing voice of Parisian Laurent Hounsavi will surely leave many with goose-pimples as he croons out some of his great medley of songs. Soak up this once in a lifetime experience.
Street Party
Thursday, 4th February (6:30pm to 8 pm)

Make your way to the Avenue of Stars for the largest salsa street party ever staged in Hong Kong. The buzzing atmosphere, super salsa demonstrations and spontaneous street grooving make this a must-go hot spot during the festival.
Asia-Pacific Salsa Open Championships

Watch teams and couples battle to claim the highly sought-after prize of Asia-Pacific Salsa Open Champion. The incredible array of talent from around the world competing for top positions will leave you in awe of these competitor™s talents and make you glad you are not one of the 12 judges from around the world who have to decide the winners. Whatever you do, don’t miss this world class competition spectacle, the premier Salsa Competition in Asia.

Want to dance like a pro or just be able to dance? There are all-day salsa dance workshops being held for beginner to professional levels and taught by some of the greatest salsa instructors and champions from around the world.

Get ready for the festival’s biggest highlight, a spectacular dance show featuring local and international salsa dance teams, followed by the most happening salsa parties for dancers and non-dancers alike. Definitely not to be missed!
